Score: Lisgoold 0 - 4 Erins Own 0 – 6
Our final U12 League Game was played in Caherlag on 10th May against Erins Own. Both teams served up a great game of football with two very evenly matched teams. Erins Own were first to put a point on the board but Lisgoold replied quickly with a very well taken point from centre forward Siomha Walsh. Our full forward line of Britney Devine, Laura Whelan and Ellen Flynn were unlucky not to score the elusive goal. Midfielder Niamh Power socred a lovely point midway through the half and once again Siomha Walsh narrowly missed two goals. Our backline marked very tightly where Aoibhe Savage and Fiona Murphy excelled and together with saves from goalkeeper Shauna Savage, ensured that the half time score was Lisgoold 0-2 Erins Own 0-4. From the restart it was end to end football once again with Lisgoold first to score with a well taken free from Siomha Walsh. Erins Own replied with a point quickly followed by another which was to be their final score of the game. The Lisgoold girls played some great football and fought very hard for the scores and were rewarded with a point from Donna McCann. Unfortunately, despite the constant pressure in the second half, the all important scores just did not come. Well done to all the players and in particular to full back Fiona Murphy who was Lisgoold player of the match on the night.
