Following a very positive performance against Grenagh in which we lead at half time only to be narrowly beaten, Lisgoold took to the field against Mayfield in looking to build on that display.
We were very slow to get into the game, a point from play by Orlaith Fahey and some excellent defending by backs and goalkeeper being the highlights of the first half. At half time we could be forgiven for believing that all was lost.
Right from the throw in to begin the second half, however, things changed. The Lisgoold ladies took the game by the scruff of the neck and attacked the Mayfield goal incessantly. An early goal by Valerie Collins gave us hope. This was followed by 4 well taken points and a dramatic late goal by Leanne Woods tied the scores and brought this match to a satisfactory conclusion. Even though we only drew this match, the fighting spirit and never say die attitude of this team is a credit to the players and managers. Well done all.
