Lisgoold v Erin’s Own U16 Football – Monday, April 12th

For the first match this year we had an almost full panel to pick from and it showed. There was a determination about the team even before the match started.

The Lisgoold girls had a lot of the ball in the early stages but stiff resistance from the Erin’s Own backs meant that scores were proving hard to come by. Gradually our forwards got to grips with the game and the scores started to flow. After the half time break there was a new determination in the team. Thanks to impressive passing by our half forwards, our full forward line reeled off the scores. Some excellent goals by Orlaith Tully and Sarah O’Dwyer and a series of points by Taylor, Laura, Kate, Caoilinn and Sarah O’Shea meant that we had accumulated a fantastic score by the end of the match, despite the Erin’s Own girls never giving up.

In the past we have paid tribute to our backs, but on Monday our forwards showed what this club is all about. They played with a passion that had to be seen to be appreciated, coupled with fantastic skill. The team management would like to thank the girls for their efforts and look forward to more success in the future.
