Junior Ladies County League v Ballyphehane

Lisgoold 2 – 5 Ballyphehane 5 – 9

Sunday evening saw Lisgoold play host to the Junior Ladies from Ballyphehane for the first time in a physical and entertaining encounter. The visitors went into an early lead with a goal and a point after ten minutes. Lisgoold started to find their pace and drew level after some terrific attacking play with Leah Hogan scoring a great goal and a well taken point from a free.

Lisgoold began to dominate at midfield with Johanna Lane and Taylor Bradley working well. This period of play yielded further scores through well taken points from Orla Fahy and the on-form Leah Hogan.

Lisgoold emerged for the second half three points down and were to suffer a number of early setbacks with the loss of Leanne Woods through injury and two early goals for Ballyphehane left an uphill battle for Lisgoold Ladies. They stuck to their task and Johanna Lane won a great ball inside the 45 and after a tenacious run scored the goal of the game from 25 metres out.

Despite outstanding defensive work from Maureen O’Roiordan, ably assisted by Tanya Kinston and numerous great saves from Trish Walsh the visitors had too much fire power and ran out victors at the full time whistle. Lisgoold continue to see great improvement with each match and this was a great team performance despite being without a number of first team regulars.

Scorers for Lisgoold: Leah Hogan (1-3), Orla Fahy (0-2) Johanna Lane (1-0)
