A rip roaring encounter at Pairc Lios gCul on Wednesday saw our girls prevail by single goal margin in a wonderful game in which it would have been hard on either side to lose out . The single score difference , in our favour , at the conclusion of this very entertaining encounter reflected the number of goal scoring chances created throughout the match .

A solid defence is always built around a dependable goalkeeper , and Niamh Power started brightly and saved a rasper early on , and certainly the confidence this excellent start afforded her the opportunity to build on this throughout .

The solid full back display of the always dependable Kate Ruane was supported by Sarah Kelleher ( who unfortunately had to retire early due to injury , but was replaced admirably by Ava Savage).

A great interception by Aoife Healy when the game was in the boiling pot with time running out was an inspiration to her colleagues , while flankers Elizabeth Hegarty and Captain Jodie Townend proved an attacking springboard throughhout.

The middle diamond of Aoife Roche , cousins Caoilin Hickey and Donna McCann , and scorer in chief Dayna Bradley were our dominant achievers on the night , and each played impressively and contributed magnificantly to this great team performance . Sinead O'Brien and Ciara Flynn provided plenty of quality supply into the inner forwards where Laura Walsh and Siomha Walsh supported the goal scorer Morgan Maunsell effectively .

On what was a very enjoyable game , played in a positive mindset and great attitude , by two well drilled and coached sides , Lisgoold , in a performance that will have pleased coaches John Hickey and Willie McCann , ran out triumphant and progressed to the next round where we await the winners of Inch Rovers and Ballinacurra .
