Under 10's defeat Neighbours; Lisgoold 5-1 Carrigtwohill 0-0
The U10 girls took to the field for their fourth league match on Friday 3rd July in Lisgoold pitch. Opposition on the night was Carrigtwohill. Once again a great game of football was served up to onlookers. From the throw in Lisgoold showed their intent with midfielders Niamh Power and Sinead O'Brien supplying great ball to the forward line. Sarah Murphy and Ciara Lawlor worked very hard but were denied by a tight Carrigtwohill backline.
The constant pressure from midfield paid off midway through the half when Niamh Power stormed through for Lisgoold's first goal. This was quickly followed by a great goal from Orla Fleming and she added a lovely point just before the half time break. The Lisgoold full back line kept a gallant Carrigtwohill forward line at bay where Sarah Kelleher and Rachel McCann were excellent.
Five minutes into the second half, impressive centre forward, Ellen Flynn crashed home a great goal to the roof of the net. The Lisgoold backline continued to dominate with a great save from goalkeeper, Britney Devine. Once again the equally impressive midfielder Niamh Power scored her second goal from a lovely long range shot. Lisgoold's final score came from the boot of our hard working full forward Laura Whelan.
Substitutes on the night Erin Nagle and Emer Lawlor did very well when they came on.
Once again well done to all the girls on a great performance and to both teams on a very entertaining and sporting game of football.
