East Cork Oil U12 League S/F v Fermoy B

Lisgoold 2' 6" Fermoy (B) 0' 1"

On Sat 20th June the girls travelled to Fermoy for their semi-final encounter with the Fermoy (B) squad.

Played in warm sunshine and in a sporting manner both teams gave of their all and served up an entertaining game which was competitive throughout.

Lisgoold captain Ceire Flynn elected to play with the breeze in the opening half and from the off our girls attacked in search of scores.

With strong defence from both teams scores were hard earned. Lisgoold opened the scoring with a fine point from Ella O' Brien.

Midway through the opening half the pressure from the Lisgoold attack was rewarded with a great goal from full forward Ella O' Brien. This score settled our girls and was followed another fine point from Dayna Bradley before the half time break.

Turning to play against the breeze in the second half the girls continued to play with great spirit and purpose.

Our rock solid defence repelled numerous attacks from the Fermoy girls who took the game to Lisgoold throughout the second half.

Midfielders Dayna Bradley and Donna McCann continued to keep a good supply of ball to our forwards in the second half.

A piledriver of a goal from Dayna and some fine points rewarded our second half efforts against a strong breeze.

Debutant Jodie Townend had a fine game in solid defensive unit which only conceded 1 point in
this game.

Our backline of Niamh Power, Kate Ruane, Stephanie O' Driscoll, Siomha Walsh, Aoife Roche, Jodie Townend and goalkeeper Rachel McCann were excellent throughout.

Midfield dynamos Dayna Bradley and Donna McCann covered a huge amount of ground ensured that our forwards received a good supply of ball.

Our forward line of Sinead O' Brien, Morrigan Maunsell, Ceire Flynn, Lorraine O' Driscoll, Ella O' Brien, Laura Walsh and substitute Aoibhe Savage produced their best display of the season to date.
