Lisgoold Under 16's qualify for League Semi Final

Lisgoold 7.06 v Watergrasshill 0.08,
played in Watergrasshill on 5/5/09

This was a vital match for both teams as the winners were through tothe league semi final. The Lisgoold girls laid down a marker early onwith a quick goal and continued in this vein throughout the firsthalf, in spite of playing into a strong wind.

It was not a case of oneway traffic as the girls had to fight hard to contain a physicallystronger Watergrasshill team, who were missing some of their playerson the night. Lisgoold suffered a blow early in the first half whenFrances Connery had to leave the field with a hand injury. Fortunatelywe were able to bring out goalkeeper Sarah O’Dwyer who was ablyreplaced in goal by Katie Jeffers.

The girls dominated the second halfand achieved a deserved win with a scoreline of 7-6 to 0-8. Every girlgave 100% in this game and showed great teamwork. This game was playedin a very sportsmanlike fashion throughout and credit is due to bothteams.

Well done girls.
