For our third game of the league campaign the girls made the trip to neighbours Carrigtwohill. This again proved to be a very tough assignment against a strong Carrigtwohill outfit.
Starting without three of our squad and playing against a stiff breeze in the first half we were under pressure from the off. Wave after wave of Carrig attacks began to take its toll despite the best efforts of our defensive unit.
Goalkeeper Stephanie O' Driscoll made some great saves during the opening half but the relentless pressure from the Carrig girls yielded some fine scores as they began to build a commanding lead.
Playing against a strong breeze in the opening half our girls continued to battle bravely and were rewarded with a goal and a point from sharp shooter Sarlaith Walsh.
Starting the second half with the wind at our backs the girls never say die character came to the fore, an early point from Dayna Bradley fitting reward for their efforts.
The Carrigtwohill girls continued to get some crucial scores throughout the second half despite some outstanding defensive work from Kate Ruane and some great saves from second half goalkeeper Niamh Power.
As the second half progressed our girls continued to put pressure on the Carrigtwohill defence with Ella O' Brien featuring strongly in the attack. Our second half efforts were rewarded with another fine score from Dayna Bradley, two great points from Ella O' Brien and a long range effort from Caoilinn Hickey.
The girls battled all the way to the end of this tough encounter but eventually had to give way to a better team on the night.
