U14s continue winning ways

East Cork U-14 League

Lisgoold 4 – 8 Bride Rovers 4 - 4

Lisgoold have maintained their impressive start to the season with another outstanding team performance to take the points against a highly talented Bride Rovers team at Pairc Lios gCul on Saturday afternoon. Leah Hogan opened the scoring with a fine individual point and this was followed by a point from Taylor Bradley . When a superb goal from Sarah O’Shea put Lisgoold into an early lead after 10 minutes , the omens looked good for a positive result for our young side . However, with a short period of domination from Bride Rovers saw them pull two points back we wondered what response would be forthcoming from the blue and golds. When further points from Dayna Bradley, Taylor Bradley and Leah Hogan it looked like Lisgoold would have a comfortable lead at half time , but , in tune with the see saw nature of this game, the visitors then cracked in a great goal and a point at the end of the half to leave the home side with a two point lead at half time.

The second half began with Lisgoold tormenting the visitors defence. This early pressure paid off with two brilliantly taken goals from Taylor Bradley , one an absolute rasper which could yet sbe goal of the season. Bride Rovers hit back instantly with two individual goals from Jennifer Cahill but , yet again , showing true champion attitude, Lisgoold responded with a well taken point from Sarah O’Shea. Bride Rovers piled on the pressure for the next ten minutes and the visitors levelled the match with another goal from the impressive Cahill. The game was heading for a draw when Lisgoold broke up field and a well worked move, executed as perfectly as it was practiced on the training pitch , led to a peach of a point by Sarah O’Shea. From the restart a great pass up the right side of field found Dainelle O’Keffe who shot from fifteen yards and scored a match winning goal ensuring a deserved four point win for Lisgoold. There were good defensive displays from Caoilinn Hickey, Kate Cadogan and Laura O’Shea and providing great support upfront were Leah Hogan, Dayna Bradley and Kate Ruane.
