Sunday March 1st 2009 saw the dawning of a bright , sunny , early spring morning. That date also will be remembered as the date when a bright new era dawned for Lisgoold Leamlara Ladies Football Club . The first adult game for the Club for almost a generation saw the ladies welcome Mitchelstown to our small village for an historic and momentous occasion . Our proud , young club has battled hard and pushed many resources into our under age structures in recent years, and now the young girls of the parish , and outlying areas have aspirations to play adult football in our own famed colours. Chairperson Jackie Hogan was a proud lady on Sunday night , having overseen a day that many in the club feared would never come again .
The honour of the first score for the Lisgoold Leamlara ladies fell to Brid Cullinane who capped an excellent performance by rattling the visitors net with an unstoppable thunderbolt , simultaneously writing her name into the history books with that sweet right footed stroke , in a moment that was emotional for the large attendance and joyous for the numerous younger players watching and supporting their local heroines.
Others to impress on this wonderfully proud day for the club were Trish Walsh , Maureen O'Riordan , Ciara O'Sullivan , Eileen O'Keeffe , Trish Tobin and the history maker herself Brid Culinane .
